Maggie Coblentz is a researcher and artist from Canada. She works in the Science division at National Geographic and is a Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab.

Maggie was a researcher with the Space Exploration Initiative at MIT, where she explored space food and human culture on the International Space Station. She has flown and conducted experiments on parabolic flights and led a microbiology study on the ISS. 

Maggie has worked as a field logistician and led several Arctic field campaigns, including establishing an Arctic field school for MIT in Svalbard. Maggie is the founder of Fieldscape, an interdisciplinary field program that brings together scientists, engineers, artists, and designers, aiming to improve accessibility to remote research environments.

Maggie received a Master of Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is a Member of the IAF Committee for the Cultural Utilisation of Space. Maggie’s work has featured in WIRED, The Economist, Scientific American, NPR, CNN, Popular Science, and more.
